In the first semifinal game, played Friday, May 15, at Yorktown High School’s Tiger Field, Delta delivered a commanding 10-0 victory over Daleville in just five innings. The Eagles’ senior pitcher, Ayden Mitchell, was nothing short of spectacular, throwing a no-hitter with nine strikeouts and six walks over five innings. Delta’s offense came out blazing, scoring four runs in the first inning alone. Senior designated hitter Maddox Huffman drove in the first run, followed by a three-run home run from senior first baseman Brady Williams. The Eagles added two more runs in the third inning and sealed the win with four runs in the fifth, highlighted by a sacrifice fly from junior second baseman Kye Berger and an RBI single from sophomore outfielder Eli Overholt. Senior third baseman Aven Thomas ended the game with a walk-off RBI single, bringing Overholt home.
Delta is now chasing its third consecutive Delaware County Championship, a feat that would cement their dynasty status.
