Colorado head coach Deion Sanders says he'd like to talk to new Browns head coach Todd Monken about quarterback Shedeur Sanders — not because Deion is Shedeur's dad, but because Deion was Shedeur's college coach.

Deion Sanders is ready to trade his dad hat for his coaching cap—and he's heading to Cleveland to make it official.

The Colorado head coach has made it clear: when he sits down with new Browns head coach Todd Monken, it won't be a father-son chat about Shedeur Sanders. It'll be a coach-to-coach conversation about how to maximize the young quarterback's potential.

"I was supposed to go next week, but I've got to shoot a commercial," Sanders said. "I want to meet him because I think it's vital that as a coach—not the dad—I can tell him a few things about [Shedeur], how to get him going."

In the world of professional football, where relationships between college and NFL coaches can make or break a player's transition, Sanders is drawing a line. He's not showing up to pull strings for his son. He's showing up because he knows the playbook, the mechanics, and the mindset that made Shedeur a top prospect.

And he's not stopping there. Sanders pointed out that the same logic applies to former Colorado star Travis Hunter, now with the Jaguars.

"Even a guy like Travis Hunter being drafted to Jacksonville—I've had him for the last three seasons. Don't you think you would want to talk to me to ask me what gets him going and what backs him off?"

For Sanders, it's about respect for the craft. He's been frustrated by the whispers and negative talk surrounding Shedeur in NFL circles before last year's draft. But he sees Monken as a breath of fresh air.

"I love it, man, because he's a straight shooter," Sanders said. "All these little side conversations that were had before him, he ain't with that."

The meeting hasn't been officially scheduled yet, but when it happens, it won't be about family ties. It'll be about football—and that's exactly how Deion Sanders wants it.
