Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes might not have any NFL draft picks this week when the 2026 NFL draft gets going on Thursday, April 23. However, there is one former high-profile Buff that appears destined to be a first-round pick.

That player is none other than wide receiver Jordyn Tyson. Tyson never played a season under Sanders at Colorado, but the two overlapped for a few months during the 2023 offseason. Tyson ended up transferring later that spring, seemingly not seeing a role for himself with the Buffs, especially after coming off a serious knee injury.

Tyson broke out with Arizona State with 75 receptions for 1,101 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2024. Another solid season last year puts him in a position to be one of the first wide receivers selected.

Sanders posted a short message on X on Monday morning, showing his support for Tyson and his belief in Tyson's talent.

"Jordyn Tyson is different," Sanders wrote on social media.

Aside from the two's crossover in Boulder, Tyson and Sanders met up following Colorado's loss to Arizona State last year. The pair shared a moment discussing Tyson's NFL hopes and how it did not work out with Tyson as a Buff.

"Jordyn Tyson came in there to say, 'Coach, I apologize.' I said, 'Young man, let me tell you something. I love you. I appreciate you. I pray to God that you're a top-10 pick, top-five pick because you got it," Sanders said after the Arizona State game. "You don't have to apologize to me. You're young, man. I was young. I was making some of the same mistakes when I was your age. I'm just thankful that you got on the right course.'"

While we don't know the real reason Tyson and Sanders couldn't make it work, it sure seems like Coach Prime envisioned a path for Tyson to remain in Boulder.
