The consensus projection was Shedeur Sanders would be the Cleveland Browns starting quarterback next season. However, there are growing concerns Deshaun Watson will give him a run for his money.
Browns' beat writer Mary Kay Cabot took to social media with a quick update on the QB1 situation before OTA's, and Sanders isn't the current favorite.
"With my breaking news here that Deshaun Watson has taken the lead over Shedeur Sanders in the Browns QB competition and has the inside track to win it, I think they should declare him QB1 asap and let the 1st team offense start to cook," Cabot wrote on X. "There's no time to waste."
Sanders took over as the starter in Cleveland during the course of the last season. The son of Deion Sanders went from QB4 at the beginning of the season and slowly worked his way up, ending with a Pro Bowl nod.

After leaving Colorado, Sanders has done everything to work himself into a better position for the sake of being the permanent starter under center. But with Watson coming back from an Achilles injury, he's thrown into the mix at a critical time for the team to make a decision.
If Watson takes starting duties back from Sanders, there could be trade rumors starting soon in Cleveland.
