In a pivotal Game 6 matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the San Antonio Spurs faced an unexpected hurdle as star point guard De'Aaron Fox limped to the locker room late in the first half. With the Spurs holding a 3-2 series lead and a chance to punch their ticket to the Western Conference Finals, Fox's injury cast a shadow over what had been a dominant start.
The injury occurred with just over a minute remaining in the second quarter. Fox, who had been electrifying on both ends of the floor, jumped to tip a loose ball to a teammate. Upon landing, he immediately grabbed his ankle and hobbled off the court, unable to put weight on his injured foot. He briefly consulted with head coach Mitch Johnson before heading straight to the locker room.
Before the setback, Fox was in top form, pouring in 13 points on an efficient 5-of-6 shooting, along with 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and a block. His early energy helped the Spurs build a comfortable 74-61 lead at halftime.
Fortunately for San Antonio, depth at the guard position has been a strength throughout the postseason. Rookie Dylan Harper, who has impressed with his playoff performances, stepped in to fill Fox's shoes. The Spurs will hope Fox's injury is minor as they aim to close out the series and advance to the next round.
