Check out Delhi Capitals' latest scenarios and chances of qualifying for IPL 2026 playoffs.

The Delhi Capitals find themselves in a precarious position as the IPL 2026 season heats up, currently languishing in the bottom half of the league table. Captain Axar Patel will need to inspire a string of near-miraculous victories to keep the team's playoff hopes alive and secure a top-four finish.

Complicating matters further, the Capitals are saddled with a dismal net run rate, meaning even wins might not be enough—they'll need to win big in their remaining fixtures to improve their standing. In the current 10-team format, teams are split into two groups of five, playing 14 matches each: doubleheaders against their own group and one designated opponent from the opposite group, plus single matches against the other four teams across the league.

Historically, 16 points is the magic number to guarantee a playoff berth, though 14 points can sometimes suffice in a tight race. However, with so much ground to cover, Delhi's path is narrow. If two or more teams finish level on points, the tiebreakers are clear: total wins come first, followed by net run rate, then wickets taken, and finally—if all else fails—a random draw.

For fans and fantasy players alike, every match from here on out is a must-watch. Can Axar Patel rally his squad and turn their season around? The next few games will tell the tale.
