David Raum's future at RB Leipzig is becoming one of the most intriguing storylines of the upcoming transfer window. With just one year remaining on his contract, the 28-year-old left-back and club captain is reportedly "tempted" by the prospect of testing himself in the Premier League.
According to German outlet Sport Bild, Raum is patiently waiting for the right offer to arrive—and it seems the interest is already there. English media outlet Teamtalk revealed last month that both Liverpool and Manchester United have been keeping tabs on the German international throughout this season.
For a player who has established himself as one of the Bundesliga's most reliable defenders, a move to England could be the perfect next step. Raum's attacking instincts and pinpoint crossing ability would fit seamlessly into the Premier League's high-tempo style.
When asked back in January about contract extension talks with Leipzig, Raum remained focused on the present. "No, not yet," he told Bulinews.com. "I just focus on my game and my new role at the club (as captain). I have a contract beyond this season, so there's no hurry at the moment. If the club comes to me, of course we can sit together and talk about it, but at the moment it's not a big topic."
The former Hoffenheim star added: "I'm very happy here at the moment and have a clear goal with the team this season, and that's all I focus on. Playing at my second World Cup after the season is another goal I have, and then we'll see after that."
Since joining Leipzig in the summer of 2022, Raum has become a key figure both on and off the pitch. His leadership qualities earned him the captain's armband, and his consistent performances have made him one of the most sought-after full-backs in Europe. Whether he stays in Germany or trades the Bundesliga for the bright lights of the Premier League, one thing is certain: David Raum's next move will be one to watch.
