After spending nine seasons with the Cleveland Browns, veteran tight end David Njoku is still searching for a new team ahead of the 2026 NFL season. Following a recent visit with the Baltimore Ravens, the 6-foot-4 pass-catcher is now set to meet with the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

Njoku remains one of the most notable free agents still available this offseason, currently ranked No. 76 on Pro Football Talk's list of top free agents. While his production dipped in 2025—recording 33 receptions for 293 yards and four touchdowns over 12 games—his career numbers remain impressive: 384 catches, 4,062 yards, and 34 touchdowns.

The Chargers are in desperate need of a reliable tight end to support quarterback Justin Herbert, especially as they look to make a deeper playoff run. Los Angeles currently has Oronde Gadsden and Charlie Kolar on the roster at the position, but neither has proven to be a consistent weapon. Njoku's size and blocking ability could also help shore up protection for Herbert, who has faced heavy pressure in the pocket.

Though his yards per catch have declined in Cleveland, a change of scenery in Los Angeles could provide the spark Njoku needs to revitalize his role in the passing game. For a Chargers team aiming to maximize Herbert's potential, adding a veteran like Njoku could be a game-changer.
