De’Shayne Montgomery announced his commitment to the Louisville Cardinals on Friday, April 24, after one season with the Dayton Flyers.

A day earlier, Bryce Heard committed to Wichita State after one season in Dayton.

Montgomery, a 6-foot-4 junior guard, entered the transfer portal on April 9. Last season, he ranked second on the team in scoring with 13.4 points per game behind senior Javon Bennett (15.8). He made the All-Atlantic 10 Conference third team.

Montgomery played his freshman season at Mount St. Mary's and his sophomore season at Georgia.

Montgomery is the fifth transfer added this spring by Louisville. He joins a program that finished 24-11 in coach Pat Kelsey’s second season. The Cardinals have played in the NCAA tournament two years in a row after missing four straight tournaments.

Heard, a 6-5 sophomore guard, joins a Wichita State program that finished 24-12 in the third season for coach Paul Mills. The Shockers have missed the NCAA tournament five years in a row.

Heard was the first Flyer to announce his plans to enter the portal this spring on April 1. He ranked sixth on the team in scoring with 6.6 points per game. He appeared in 36 of 37 games, making six starts.

Heard played his freshman season at North Carolina State, averaging 1.2 points in 24 appearances.
