The Dallas Wings are bringing a familiar face back home. Veteran guard Odyssey Sims has reportedly agreed to a one-year deal to return to her hometown franchise, marking her third stint with the team.
According to reports, Sims will join the Wings on a standard veteran minimum contract. The former Irving MacArthur and Baylor star was originally drafted second overall by the franchise in 2014 when they were the Tulsa Shock, playing through their relocation to Dallas. She later returned for parts of the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
Sims brings a wealth of experience and a proven scoring touch. Last season, splitting time between the Los Angeles Sparks and Indiana Fever, she averaged 10.1 points per game. Her history with the Wings is even more impressive, boasting career averages of 12.7 points and 3.8 assists across 128 games with the team.
Her basketball pedigree is stellar. A key member of Baylor's legendary undefeated 2012 national championship team, Sims translated that success to the WNBA, earning All-Star honors in 2019 and a Second Team All-WNBA selection that same year. She's also a two-time WNBA Finals participant, showcasing her ability to perform on the biggest stages.
This signing is part of a significant offseason overhaul for the Wings, who have also added frontcourt talent in Jessica Shepard, reigning co-defensive player of the year Alanna Smith, and veteran Alysha Clark. Sims' return adds backcourt depth and veteran leadership as Dallas looks to build a competitive roster for the upcoming season.
