What a day for Austin Dahle! The Hayfield Vikings' star delivered a masterclass on both sides of the ball, powering his team to a commanding 9-4 victory over Mabel-Canton on Thursday.
On the mound, Dahle was nearly untouchable, fanning 10 batters over a complete seven-inning performance. He scattered seven hits and three walks while allowing just three earned runs—a gritty effort that kept the Vikings in control from start to finish.
But Dahle didn't stop there. At the plate, he was a one-man wrecking crew, going 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, and four RBIs. His two-run blast and run-scoring double were the highlights of a dynamite offensive showing that lifted Hayfield to a 6-6 record on the season.
The Vikings got plenty of support from their lineup, too. Charlie Walker set the table with a 2-for-3 day, scoring twice, while Rylan Nelsen matched him with a 2-for-3 performance that included a triple, an RBI, and two runs scored. Kael Steele chipped in with a double and an RBI, Axel Meek drove in a run and scored twice, and Josiah Dornink added an RBI single to round out a balanced attack.
For Mabel-Canton, now 5-7, it was a tough day against a red-hot Vikings squad that seems to be finding its groove as the season heats up. With Dahle leading the charge, Hayfield looks like a team to watch in the weeks ahead.
