The Cyclone softball team came into their final series of the season with a chance to make a statement, but the #23-ranked UCF Knights proved too tough to handle. After splitting the first two games, Iowa State hoped to take the series in Sunday's decisive matchup. Unfortunately, the Knights jumped out to a dominant start, scoring five runs in the first inning alone. The Cyclones answered back with three runs of their own, showing early fight, but the momentum didn't last. Iowa State wouldn't score again until the fifth inning, while UCF kept adding to their lead, eventually sealing a 12-4 victory. It was a tough ending for the Cyclones, who battled hard but couldn't quite pull off the upset in their home finale.
