Wins for Iowa and South Bend during the day. A loss for the Birds at night. Rain extinguishes the Smokies.

It was a day of drama, rain, and standout performances across the Chicago Cubs' minor league system. From a walk-off thriller in Iowa to a rainout in Knoxville and a crisp victory in South Bend, here's how the action unfolded.

Iowa Cubs (Triple-A)
The Iowa Cubs delivered a heart-stopping 3-2 win in 11 innings against the Columbus Clippers. Right-hander Vince Velazquez rejoined the squad, but it was lefty Luke Little who stole the show in extra innings. Little allowed an automatic runner to score in the tenth but kept Columbus off the board in the eleventh, earning the win. He tossed two innings, giving up one unearned run on one hit while walking one and striking out two.

Charlie Barnes set the tone with five scoreless innings to open the game, allowing four hits, walking one, and striking out four. The I-Cubs managed only four hits all day, with just one infield single before the eighth inning. But when it mattered most, third baseman Pedro Ramírez delivered. He singled home the winning run in the bottom of the eleventh, finishing 1-for-4. Owen Miller provided most of the offense, going 2-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored.

Ramírez also made a spectacular run-saving play on defense, showing he can do it all. Right fielder Kevin Alcántara chipped in with a strong throw to cut down a runner, earning the nickname "The Jaguar" from fans.

Knoxville Smokies (Double-A)
The Smokies were rained out and will look to make up the game with a doubleheader on Friday.

South Bend Cubs (High-A)
The South Bend Cubs turned in a sharp 3-1 victory over the Lansing Lugnuts. Koen Moreno started strong, allowing just two hits over four scoreless innings while striking out five and walking two. Jackson Brockett took over and was even more dominant, retiring all six batters he faced—five via strikeout and one on a groundout—to earn the win.

JP Wheat retired the side in order in the seventh but ran into trouble in the eighth. After getting the first out on a foul pop, he allowed a single and hit a batter. Ethan Bell relieved Wheat and allowed one inherited runner to score but closed out the game for the save, securing the win for South Bend.

Whether it's walk-off heroics or lockdown pitching, the Cubs' minor league system continues to showcase the depth and talent that makes following these prospects so exciting.
