The Dallas Cowboys' rookie minicamp is in full swing, and while the team's seven draft picks naturally grab the headlines, it's the 11 undrafted free agents who are fighting hardest for a shot at the roster. These newcomers are spending the weekend learning the system and trying to impress the coaching staff, all with the goal of turning their invitation into a permanent spot come fall.
Now that the Cowboys have assigned jersey numbers to the entire rookie class, fans will notice a mix of fresh digits and familiar favorites. While the draft picks like Caleb Downs and Malachi Lawrence step into some storied numbers, it's the UDFA assignments that might stir up a bit of emotion in the locker room. WR Camden Brown — No. 6
The Georgia Southern product, who spent his first three seasons at Auburn, takes over a number with a colorful Cowboys history. It was previously worn by Donovan Wilson, ex-punter Chris Jones, kicker Nick Folk, and—going way back—Luis Zendejas of "Bounty Bowl" fame.
WR Jordan Hudson — No. 16
Coming off three strong years at SMU, Hudson will wear No. 16. Jalen Cropper had it last season, and Will Grier the year before that. Past Cowboys to don the number include T.Y. Hilton, Jesse Holley, Vinny Testaverde, and even Ryan Leaf.
RB Dominic Richardson — No. 43
According to the team website, Richardson has been given Malik Davis's number—though no switch for Davis has been announced yet. It's a number with serious legacy, previously worn by Gerald Sensabaugh, Izell Reese, and Ring of Honor members Cliff Harris and Don Perkins.
TE Michael Trigg — No. 46
Considered by many to have the best chance of making the final roster among the UDFAs, Trigg starts his journey in the same digits once worn by running back Alfred Morris and two-time Super Bowl champion ...
