The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are already looking ahead to the 2027 NFL Draft, set to take place in Washington, D.C., and a new early mock draft has thrown an interesting name into the mix for the team. While the Bucs still hold their first-round pick for next year, a lot can change over the next 12 months, but that hasn't stopped the speculation from heating up.
FOX Sports' Rob Rang recently released his way-too-early 2027 mock draft, and he projects the Bucs to go offense—but at a position that might raise some eyebrows. Rang has Tampa Bay selecting Missouri offensive tackle Cayden Green, a versatile blocker who could add depth to a unit that's already a team strength.
Rang explains the pick by highlighting Green's youth and experience: "Green is still only 21 years old yet enters the upcoming season with about three years of starting experience on the offensive line. He starred at left tackle last year after previously starting at left guard for Missouri and beginning his college career at Oklahoma, where he started five games as a true freshman. He is one of the youngest and most gifted blockers in college football, showing impressive initial quickness and agility for someone listed at 6-foot-5, 324 pounds."
If the plan is to move Green to guard, it might make more sense, but the Bucs just drafted Billy Shrauth last week, so the offensive line picture is already crowded. For now, this pick feels like a bit of a head-scratcher, but as we know, draft projections are always a moving target. Time will tell if Green becomes a real target for Tampa Bay when the 2027 draft rolls around.
