The NBA Rookie of the Year race was tightly contested all season between two former Duke Blue Devils, Cooper Flagg and Kon Knueppel.
When the award was announced Monday night, it was ultimately Flagg who took home the hardware.
Following the announcement, Flagg spoke to the media about the friendly competition with him and Knueppel.
"I was watching Kon just because that's one of my brothers," he said.
Knueppel ended up finishing in second place, just 26 points behind Flagg. Last year's No. 3 overall pick, VJ Edgecombe, finished third representing the Philadelphia 76ers.
