Former Duke star Cooper Flagg took home the NBA Rookie of the Year Award, defeating former teammate and roommate Kon Knueppel by 26 votes after a record-breaking season with the Dallas Mavericks.
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft and Wooden Award winner in his one season at Duke, Flagg joined an exclusive list that includes Larry Bird, Michael Jordan and Luka Doncic as the only rookies to average 20 points, six rebounds and four assists in an NBA season.
Flagg’s family took time to record a congratulatory message to Cooper for the historic feat.
