The Washington Commanders selected Penn State running back Kaytron Allen with the No. 187 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.
Allen, a four-year contributor at Penn State and a third-team All-American in 2025, finished his career with 4,180 rushing yards and 39 touchdowns. He is the program’s all-time leading rusher and averaged 5.4 yards per carry. He also recorded 70 receptions for 490 yards and four touchdowns.
NFL.com draft analyst Lance Zierlein described Allen as a productive runner with good size and vision but limited explosiveness.
Allen’s best season came in his final year, when he led the team with 1,303 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns, both career highs. He rushed for at least 1,000 yards in three consecutive seasons and was a consistent presence in the offense.
He has drawn comparisons to running back Tyler Allgeier for his vision and patience as a runner.
