The Indianapolis Colts have officially parted ways with veteran cornerback Kenny Moore II, releasing the fan-favorite defensive back on Thursday after failing to find a trade partner to honor his pre-draft trade request.

Moore II, a 5'9" undrafted free agent out of Valdosta State in 2017, defied the odds during his nine-year tenure with the Colts. Initially signed by the New England Patriots and released before the regular season, Moore was claimed off waivers by Indianapolis just before Chris Ballard's first season as general manager. His rare blend of instincts, speed, agility, and length quickly made him a standout in the slot.

Known as "Lightning in a Bottle" during his 2021 Pro Bowl season, Moore's electric energy and leadership made him a beloved figure in the locker room and among fans. Over 132 games (111 starts)—tied for the 23rd-most in Colts history—he compiled an impressive resume: 21 interceptions (tied for 11th in franchise history), 649 tackles, 68 pass breakups, 6 forced fumbles, 5 defensive touchdowns, and an astonishing 11.5 sacks—tied for 6th-most all-time by a cornerback in NFL history.

Moore's impact extended well beyond the gridiron. He was nominated three times (2021, 2024, 2025) for the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award for his community work through his Lov Foundation, exemplifying what it truly meant to be a Colt.

In the same roster moves, the Colts also released safety Nasir Adderley and waived linebacker John Bullock.
