After a quiet 2026 NFL Draft—where Colorado was one of just 10 Power Four programs to have zero picks—the Buffaloes are poised for a major rebound. Following a tough 3-9 season, the roster was largely devoid of pro-ready talent. But heading into the 2026 season, that narrative is shifting fast.
CBS Sports recently spotlighted two Colorado transfers as legitimate 2027 NFL Draft prospects: wide receiver Danny Scudero (from San Jose State) and safety Boo Carter (from Tennessee). Both players are entering their first season with the Buffs, but their college resumes speak volumes. Scudero and Carter are arguably the most impactful additions on offense and defense, respectively, and their success could be the key to a winning season in Boulder.
According to CBS Sports’ Cody Nagel, Scudero—who led the FBS in receiving production last year—immediately becomes Colorado’s most proven pass catcher. If he can translate that elite production to the Power Four stage, he’s a legitimate first-round candidate. Meanwhile, Carter brings high-upside versatility to the secondary, and head coach Deion Sanders has already praised his spring performance.
Even if their stats dip slightly in a new system, both players have built enough pedigree to hear their names called on draft day. For Scudero, maintaining his dominant form in the Big 12 could cement him as a top prospect.
It’s still a full season away, but the talent gap between this year’s Buffs and last year’s squad is already evident. Colorado is on the rise—and the NFL scouts are taking notice.
