Terry Francona shares an important injury update on Emilio Pagan.

The Cincinnati Reds secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday night, but the win came with a potential cost. Star closer Emilio Pagán, who pitched in the contest, appears to have suffered an injury, casting a shadow over the team's triumph.

Following the game, Reds manager Terry Francona provided an update, revealing Pagán is dealing with a hamstring concern. "He is getting looked at right now," Francona stated, adding that the pitcher needed to be "checked out" post-game, underscoring the urgency of the situation.

This development is a significant worry for Cincinnati. Pagán, 34, is a cornerstone of their bullpen. After a stellar 2025 season where he posted a 2.88 ERA with 32 saves, he's established himself as one of the game's more reliable late-inning arms. Any extended absence would be a major blow to a Reds team that has already navigated early-season injuries while building a 10-7 record.

The victory itself was a classic pitcher's duel. Brady Singer delivered a gutsy start for the Reds, scattering six hits over six innings and allowing just one run without issuing a walk. He was matched by Giants' starter Robbie Ray, who surrendered two runs across five frames.

Offensively, the Reds managed just three hits but made them count. Sal Stewart and Spencer Steer each drove in a run, while Elly De La Cruz added the other hit. It was just enough to support a bullpen that, Pagán's late appearance aside, was impressive in sealing the narrow win.

All eyes will now be on Pagán's status. The team is expected to provide another update soon. In the meantime, the Reds will turn the page and prepare for the second game of their series against the Giants on Wednesday night (6:40 PM EST), where right-hander Rhett Lowder is slated to take the mound for Cincinnati.
