The tension at UFC 328's pre-fight press conference reached a boiling point when Khamzat Chimaev kicked Sean Strickland—and it all happened with armed police standing just feet away on stage.

What started as a bitter, personal exchange quickly spiraled out of control. Chimaev, held back by UFC security, taunted Strickland to come closer before launching a kick at the American. The crowd erupted as security and armed police rushed to separate the fighters, escorting them off stage in opposite directions while they continued trading expletives.

This explosive moment caps off a fight week that has been anything but calm. Chimaev, the Russian-Emirati middleweight champion, is set to defend his belt against Strickland this Saturday in Newark, New Jersey. While trash talk is nothing new in the UFC, Strickland has taken things to another level—directing derogatory and racist comments at Chimaev, attacking his religion and heritage.

Last week, Strickland even threatened to shoot Chimaev if the 32-year-old and his teammates confronted him before the fight. In response, the UFC has ramped up security, reportedly keeping the two fighters in separate hotels.

Chimaev had remained calm and reserved throughout fight week despite Strickland's provocations, but the press conference saw him finally snap. Before the pair even sat down, security had to intervene. As Strickland continued his verbal assault, Chimaev fired back with ugly comments about childhood trauma that Strickland has previously opened up about.

"You're making fun of child abuse," Strickland shot back, following up with more expletives.

UFC president Dana White, who stood between the two fighters during the chaos, simply responded, "It is what it is." He had earlier described this rivalry as one of the "top-three" most heated in UFC history.

Despite the offensive nature of the exchange, don't expect the UFC to take disciplinary action. White has been a vocal supporter of letting fighters settle their differences in the octagon, and this Saturday, that's exactly what will happen.
