The Kansas City Chiefs made a point to reinforce their defense in Round 1 of the 2026 NFL Draft, and with one pick to make on Day 2, Brett Veach is sure to be hard at work figuring out how to get Patrick Mahomes a new offensive weapon.
Yesterday, Kansas City selected LSU Tigers defensive back Mansoor Delane after a trade up to the No. 6 overall pick, and stayed put with their No. 29 choice to take Clemson Tigers defensive lineman Peter Woods.
While it is unclear which position Veach will target with the Chiefs' only Day 2 pick (No. 40 overall in Round 2), it seems likely that Kansas City's fans will see the team take a running back, wide receiver, or offensive lineman.
Stay tuned to this live blog to find out who Veach has his eyes on Day 2 of the 2026 NFL Draft:
The San Francisco 49ers will be on the clock with the No. 33 pick at 6 p.m. CT.
Kansas City is only set to make one selection today, but fans should be advised that Brett Veach may elect to trade down from the No. 40 pick to acquire additional draft capital.
