The second day of the 2026 NFL draft was full of excitement as well as questions.

The latter came from many Chargers fans, who were uncertain about the team's No. 63 overall pick. The Bolts traded out of their original pick at No. 55 overall with the Patriots.

Jake Slaughter, an offensive lineman out of Florida, was listed as a center in mock drafts. However, he was called a guard on Friday night.

Slaughter has limited reps at the position, but expressed comfortability moving from center to guard.

"I wouldn't say it's the first time I've ever [played guard]," Slaughter said at the NFL Combine. "I did it a little bit in college, did it a little bit in high school. We just always had great depth at guard, needed to play center and get better at playing center. I look forward to training more at guard, I've been training and getting ready for stuff like this. There's a lot of differences. The spacing is what gets me. I'm used to this guy is right on me right now. Getting out in space a little bit more, getting hands on guys, there's some different body types you'll see at guard too that you're not necessarily gonna see in the A-gap. It's a lot of fun. A new challenge."

While there are some who were doubtful of the second-round pick, there's one Chargers fan favorite who believes general manager Joe Hortiz made the right decision.

Veteran safety Tony Jefferson weighed in on the Chargers' second-round pick via social media. The fan favorite posted a screenshot of text messages with his trainer, who called Slaughter the best center in the 2026 draft.
