The Milwaukee Bucks could be shopping Giannis Antetokounmpo this offseason, and the Boston Celtics have been identified as a suitor.

The NBA offseason is shaping up to be a blockbuster, and all eyes are on Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo. With rumors swirling that the Bucks might shop the two-time MVP, the Boston Celtics have emerged as a potential landing spot—but not everyone is convinced they'll land the "Greek Freak."

According to NBA insider Shams Charania, the Bucks are expected to ask Antetokounmpo to sign an extension this summer, and "by all accounts," he'll decline. With just one year left on his deal, Milwaukee would have no choice but to trade him. The Celtics reportedly even pursued Antetokounmpo at this year's trade deadline, making them a natural suitor.

However, Bleacher Report's Dan Favale predicts Antetokounmpo will end up with a different Eastern Conference foe—possibly the Cleveland Cavaliers, New York Knicks, Miami Heat, Charlotte Hornets, or Brooklyn Nets. The Athletic's Sam Amick and Eric Nehm add that Antetokounmpo has no interest in heading west or joining a non-contender, narrowing the field significantly.

While the Celtics certainly qualify as contenders, Favale doesn't see them pulling the trigger. Boston's core of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown has already led the team to two NBA Finals and one championship. Breaking up that duo to add Antetokounmpo would be a risky move, especially when the current formula is working. As one NBA writer noted, if the Celtics trade Jaylen Brown, it likely won't be for Giannis.

For now, the Celtics remain focused on their championship identity. But in a league where superstar trades can shift the balance of power overnight, this is a story worth watching—and a reminder that even the best teams can't afford to sleep on the competition.
