The Celtics broke a franchise record in Game 4 on Sunday, knocking down 24 3-point attempts in a 128-96 win over the 76ers at Xfinity Mobile Arena.
Boston went 24-of-53 from long distance in the victory, coming up one 3-point make short of tying the NBA playoff record for most 3-point makes in a game, held by the 2016 Cleveland Cavaliers and 2023 Milwaukee Bucks.
Nine different players made a 3-point field goal in the win including a team-high six from Payton Pritchard. Jayson Tatum knocked down five, and six different players hit multiple 3s, which helped Boston pull away early from the Sixers in the first half and cruise to a 3-1 series lead with a dominant Game 4.
“I don’t know if I saw anything different. It’s just more playing with that aggression, playing with that spark,” Pritchard said. “I felt it in game three. I was telling some of the coaches I got I thought it was a step in the right direction as far as, like, my aggression and getting my rhythm back.”
The historic performance comes just two weeks after the Celtics matched an NBA record for most 3-point makes (29) in a regular season game against the Pelicans.

Boston’s 3-point shooting has been up and down throughout the postseason so far but the team has now put itself in position to close out the series on Tuesday night after a historic night from the perimeter.
“This was amazing, this was a great team win,” Jaylen Brown said. “Beautiful display of basketball, beautiful display of Celtic basketball, and I loved how we shared the ball, we offensive rebounded, we outworked them, and then we were rewarded with making those shots.”
