Celtic are reportedly ready to reignite their pursuit of promising Polish centre-back Oskar Wojcik, after seeing an initial bid rejected during the January transfer window. According to reports from Goal (as cited by The Daily Record), the Hoops offered around £3.5 million for the 22-year-old, but Cracovia held firm, demanding closer to their £4.3 million valuation set earlier this year.
With the summer window approaching, Celtic are expected to return with renewed interest—but they won't have a clear path. Serie A sides Torino, Fiorentina, and Bologna are all monitoring Wojcik's situation, along with Coventry City and several other Championship clubs. Coventry's potential promotion to the Premier League under Frank Lampard could tempt the defender to test himself in England. However, joining Celtic might offer him an immediate starting role in the heart of their backline—a chance that could be hard to pass up.
Wojcik developed through the academy systems at Rylovia Rylowa, Tarnovia Tarnów, and Cracovia before impressing for the latter's reserves. A brief loan spell at GKS Belchatow in Poland's lower leagues helped him gain valuable experience. He made his senior debut toward the end of the previous campaign but has been a regular fixture in the starting XI since the 2025-26 season kicked off.
Despite Cracovia sitting just a few points above the relegation zone in the Ekstraklasa, Wojcik has drawn praise for his physical presence, aerial dominance, tactical maturity, and composure on the ball. He also possesses strong ball-playing abilities—traits that define the modern centre-half. For Celtic, who already have Cameron Carter-Vickers, Auston Trusty, and Liam Scales as senior central defensive options, adding Wojcik would provide crucial depth as part of a broader squad overhaul.
The futures of Dane Murray and Stephen Welsh remain uncertain due to limited game time in recent seasons, while Benjamin Arthur is currently out on loan. Strengthening at the back could be a smart move for the Hoops as they look to build for the future.
