Celtic 3-1 Rangers: What Rohl said

Rangers head coach Danny Rohl admits "it hurts" and "makes us angry" that his side have not only slipped out of the title race but will now finish third. "It is a very disappointing result," he tells BBC Scotland. Asked why his side collapsed after the break, Rohl says: "It is a side who can be on the front foot at home - they scored at the right moment and created the energy and we lose 3-1."

In a bitterly disappointing Old Firm derby, Rangers head coach Danny Rohl didn't hold back his emotions after his side fell 3-1 to Celtic, effectively ending their title hopes and condemning them to a third-place finish.

"It hurts, and it makes us angry," Rohl admitted to BBC Scotland, his frustration palpable. "It is a very disappointing result. The match was competitive from both sides—we actually started well—but in football, everything has to be perfect to take something away from a ground like this. In some key moments, we made the wrong decisions."

The turning point came after halftime, when Celtic seized control. Rohl analyzed the collapse: "They are a side that can really get on the front foot at home. They scored at the right moment, and that created energy for them. We lost our grip, and the scoreline reflects that."

The German coach, now facing a harsh reality check, emphasized the need for rapid improvement. "We had a great position before the split, and this is hard to take. We have to learn very quickly from these experiences," he said. "In these key moments, we need to be clinical and play without mistakes. We will learn from this—I will take a lot from the last three games to prepare the best way possible."

Looking ahead, Rohl remains resolute despite the setback. "I will lead this group, and I am clear about what we have to improve. The pain of today will fuel our development."
