In a significant move for Brazilian football's grassroots, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has announced a key appointment to oversee its expansive fourth division. CBF President Samir Xaud officially appointed Daniel Vasconcelos as the new coordinator of the Série D championship this Thursday.
Vasconcelos, who currently serves as the president of the Federal District Football Federation, will now take on the critical role of providing institutional oversight for Série D. This competition is a vital engine for football across the nation, featuring the largest number of clubs—96 this season—in the entire Brazilian football pyramid.
His responsibilities will be extensive, focusing on strengthening the foundation of the league. Vasconcelos will act as the primary liaison between the participating clubs, their state federations, and the CBF itself. His duties include monitoring the implementation of competition guidelines, coordinating communication, and developing proposals to ensure the championship's long-term growth and sustainability.
President Samir Xaud framed the appointment as part of a broader mission to elevate Brazilian football at every level. "Vasconcelos is joining us for this historic edition of Série D," Xaud stated. "He will help us run the championship and liaise with clubs and federations. This is yet another sign of the new CBF administration, which has come to improve our football."
For his part, the new coordinator expressed gratitude and commitment to the task. Vasconcelos emphasized the national scope of the competition, which features clubs from all 26 states and the Federal District, and promised dedication to working alongside all stakeholders to strengthen this crucial tier of the sport.
