Carson Wentz is sending a clear message to the Minnesota Vikings and their fans: he's back and better than ever. After a 2025 season cut short by a severe left shoulder injury—a dislocated shoulder with a torn labrum and fractured socket that required surgery in October—the veteran quarterback is ready to hit the field with renewed confidence.

Wentz originally injured the shoulder on October 5 while stepping in for starter J.J. McCarthy. He bravely played through the pain until he physically couldn't continue, but now, after months of rehab, he's feeling optimistic about his return. In a recent interview with Luke Gamble of KFYR-TV, Wentz shared his excitement: "Physically, I feel great. The shoulder's more or less behind me now. It wasn't fun by any means, but surgery went well, and rehab's gone really well, too. For me, it's behind me. I'm healthy, and I'll be ready to roll."

This is a crucial moment for Wentz, who made NFL history last season by starting at least one game for his sixth different team in six years. His journey has been one of resilience, and now he's back in Minnesota, re-signed with the Vikings despite the team also bringing in Kyler Murray. The quarterback room is suddenly crowded, with Wentz, Murray, and McCarthy all vying for the starting job. But Wentz sees this as a positive challenge: "It's a different dynamic obviously in the room with a couple other guys and having Kyler now in the mix. It's fun to compete. It's fun to get to know guys in another way. I think the competition in the environment will make everybody better."

As the Vikings prepare for organized team activities, all eyes will be on this three-way battle. Wentz, who says he'll be "ready however it goes," is looking to prove he still has what it takes to lead an offense. Whether he wins the starting role or provides veteran depth, one thing is clear: his shoulder is healed, his mindset is sharp, and he's ready to make an impact in 2026.
