Michael Carrick isn't losing any sleep over Manchester United's lackluster draw against Sunderland. The interim boss fielded a rotated side on Saturday afternoon, making five changes from the team that edged past Liverpool just days earlier. Mason Mount and Joshua Zirkzee were handed rare starts, but the result was a disjointed performance that barely tested Sunderland's defense until the dying moments.

"It's a tough place to come," Carrick told Premier League Productions. "They've had a good record here all season. We'll take the point—a clean sheet is always good to get. We've scored a lot of goals this season, it's just one of those games."

The 0-0 stalemate at the Stadium of Light felt like a missed opportunity for United, who could have sealed third place in the Premier League table with a win. Instead, Sunderland walked away with a well-earned point, and Carrick's men were left wondering what might have been. "A decent enough point and we nearly won it at the end," he added.

When pressed on how the lineup changes affected the flow of the game, Carrick was philosophical. "It's one game. It's the time of the season. We've done a lot of good work, and some changes today—I thought the attitude of the boys was really good. Today is a positive result in terms of the point. Was it going to be a perfect game? We weren't expecting a perfect game. It is what it is. It's not something we need to overthink, and it's hard to be negative."

The interim boss was quick to defend his fringe players, who struggled to find their rhythm. "They're not on trial," he insisted. "As a team, we could have been a bit better, but we know what the boys can do. Everyone has contributed in such a good way. I'm pleased with the overall connection, communication, and willingness to work for each other today."

With Champions League qualification already secured, United could be forgiven for easing off the gas in the final weeks of the season. But Carrick wants his squad to finish strong. "We gave everything this week. We've got our last home game coming up, and we want to end the campaign on a high note."

For fans looking to rep their club through the highs and lows, this draw is just another chapter in a season of growth. Whether you're gearing up for the next match or celebrating the clean sheet, stay true to your colors—because every point counts.
