Manchester United boss Michael Carrick has been speaking to the media before Saturday's Premier League game against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge (20:00 BST). It's natural for a centre-back of his age, and he's ahead of schedule in terms of the games he's played.

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has addressed the media ahead of a massive Premier League clash this Saturday, as his side travels to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in a crucial late-season fixture.

Carrick confirmed a significant defensive blow, revealing that Lisandro Martinez will be suspended following his controversial red card against Leeds. "We are disappointed. We didn't agree with it," Carrick stated, his frustration evident. "It was pretty obvious how I felt after the game, and I still feel that way. We've been hit with some decisions, but we have to accept it and move on."

The defensive woes don't end there. Carrick expressed his dismay at an additional one-game ban for Harry Maguire, citing improper conduct after his sending-off at Bournemouth. "Massively disappointed, of course," he said. "We've had a few reasons to be disappointed over these situations recently. The decisions have been made—something we're really disappointed with—but we've got to move on now."

With two senior centre-backs out, attention turns to 19-year-old Ayden Heaven, who is likely to step into the starting lineup. Carrick showed faith in the young defender: "Ayden is in a good place. He's still young and progressing, so it's natural for him to play some games and not others. He's training really well, improving, and listening. For a centre-back of his age, he's ahead of schedule in terms of games played. He trained with England recently and did well. He's looking forward to the game, for sure."

On the injury front, there was mixed news. Patrick Dorgu continues his rehabilitation and is "going well" and "back on the pitch," but he will not be fit for the Chelsea match. Meanwhile, there is a potential boost in midfield, as Kobbie Mainoo "has done little bits" in training, with a late fitness decision to be made on his availability.

All this sets the stage for a high-stakes encounter at Stamford Bridge. With both teams fighting for European qualification, United's patched-up defence will face a stern test against Chelsea's attack, making Saturday's match a must-watch for any Premier League fan.
