SPRINGFIELD–Ahead of their series finale with the Midland Rockhounds, the Springfield Cardinals finally received their 2025 Texas League Championship Rings, on Sunday.
In a pregame ceremony, players and coaches were called to home plate, one-by-one, to accept their long awaited hardware from General Manager, Dan Reiter, and Manager, Patrick Anderson.
Once they received the little black box that housed the ring, they lineup along the first base line, until they were acknowledged by the public address announcer and the cheering fans.
Afterward, the entire team huddled together for a photo, proudly displaying the championship rings. However, once the game got underway the excitement from the ceremony only lasted so long.
Cardinals cather Ryan Campos kept the momentum alive in the bottom of the 2nd, when his sky-high fly ball eluded the Rockhounds rightfielder and fell in for a 2-run double to give Springfield a 2-0 edge.
Almost immediately after that, Midland responded with three runs in the top of the 3rd to take the lead for good. The Hounds would add the game’s final run in the top of the 8th with a solo home run to take the series finale and four-out-of-six games from the Baby Birds.
Springfield will hit the road and play their next series against Northwest Arkansas between April 28-May 3.
