After going down 2-0 to the Philadelphia Flyers, the Pittsburgh Penguins are in a tough spot as they search for their first playoff series win in eight years. With the next two games in Philadelphia, the odds aren't in Pittsburgh's favor.
The Penguins haven't won a postseason series since beating the Flyers in the first round of the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs. They've lost five straight playoff series since then, which could become six soon if they don't turn things around against Philadelphia.
Unfortunately for Pittsburgh, that was also the last time one of its three major sports teams won a postseason round.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been historically bad in the playoffs lately, losing their last seven postseason games. Six of those losses were by double digits, and they haven't won a playoff game since early 2017.
Meanwhile, the Pittsburgh Pirates haven't won a playoff series since the 2013 NL Wild Card Game. They've lost their last three postseason series and haven't won a playoff game since 2013. They also haven't made the playoffs since 2015 or had a winning season since 2018, but they're off to a good start this season and could be poised to end those streaks of futility.
If the Penguins do lose in the first round, Pittsburgh sports fans will have to wait until at least October to see one of their teams win a playoff series.
