I appreciate the good people at Virginia Tech wanting to do something special for James Franklin's spring game. The longtime Penn State coach is going to try to build the Hokies into a power and the school pulled out all the stops. Including having a skydiver drop into Lane Stadium before kickoff to deliver the American flag. Wonderful idea. Next time, they just need to check with a meteorologist.

On a windy Saturday in Blacksburg, Va., the skydiver got blown off course and into the scoreboard.

Important to note: everyone is fine. Rescue crews from the city and campus were able to safely get the skydiver off the scoreboard without incident or injury. After about an hour delay. the spring game was held.

Virginia Tech opens the 2026 season on Sept. 5 at home against VMI. No word yet on whether the Hokies will use another skydiver for the game. The guess is probably not.
