Calum McFarlane has dropped a major hint that Levi Colwill could be in line to start the FA Cup final against Manchester City next weekend, following the defender's impressive showing against Liverpool.

The Chelsea boss was full of praise for the young centre-back after the 1-1 draw at Anfield, where Colwill completed his first full 90 minutes of the season. The result snapped a painful run of six consecutive defeats for the Blues, with Enzo Fernandez's strike cancelling out Ryan Gravenberch's opener.

While the point does little to boost Chelsea's European hopes—they remain ninth with just two games left—the return of Colwill has provided a much-needed lift. The England international had been sidelined with an ACL injury and made his season debut as a second-half substitute in the 3-1 loss to Nottingham Forest just days earlier.

At Anfield, McFarlane handed Colwill his first start of the campaign, and the 21-year-old repaid that faith with a composed, assured performance. Chelsea looked far more solid at the back and noticeably sharper in their build-up play.

"I thought he was exceptional today," McFarlane said in his post-match press conference. "There were a lot of good performances, but I'm really pleased for Levi. He's been injured for a long time. To go to Anfield, play 90 minutes when the team aren't in their best form, and put in that level of performance—it shows not just his talent and quality, but his mentality."

When asked directly if Colwill has a chance of starting at Wembley, McFarlane didn't hesitate: "Definitely, yeah."

For Chelsea fans, that answer is music to the ears. With the FA Cup final looming, having a fit and in-form Colwill could be the defensive boost the Blues need to challenge Pep Guardiola's treble-chasing side. And for those looking to support the squad in style, now is the perfect time to gear up in Chelsea's latest FA Cup final collection—because every fan wants to look the part when their team walks out at the national stadium.
