Whatever the New England Patriots need of him, rookie first-round draft pick Caleb Lomu is ready to deliver.

The New England Patriots have a new weapon on their offensive line, and rookie first-round pick Caleb Lomu is ready to suit up wherever the team needs him most.

During his introductory press conference at Gillette Stadium, Lomu made one thing crystal clear: he's not picky about his position. "Any position that they need me at, I'm willing to play and would love to play," the former Utah standout said. "Any position that I can contribute to help the team, I'm going to do that. Just to get on the field and get some playing time, that's the goal."

That kind of versatility is gold in the NFL trenches, and for a Patriots squad that's known for its physical, jumbo-package schemes, Lomu's flexibility could be a game-changer. Drafted primarily as an offensive tackle, many analysts expected him to eventually take over for veteran Morgan Moses on the right side. But here's the twist: Lomu spent the bulk of his college career anchoring the left side, starting there for three straight seasons at Utah.

"I just feel myself as a tackle, just in general, left or right side," Lomu explained. "Having to play left in college, that's what I got comfortable with. But my first year there, I was kind of a swing tackle, so I feel comfortable at left, and I've been working at right these past couple months. It feels just as good on the right side."

Translation? Whether it's protecting the blindside or sealing the edge on the right, Lomu is ready to roll. And he's not stopping at tackle. The big man hinted he could slide inside to guard or even feature in those heavy packages the Patriots love to deploy near the goal line.

But Lomu's confidence doesn't stop in the trenches. With a laugh, he recalled his younger days: "Back in my glory days in flag football, I was a receiver and quarterback. Sometimes I still think I am that, even though I'm 300 and something pounds." He added with a grin, "I'm a big man, but I still think I can move pretty well. My job's to block and I'll do that every single time. But if they give me an opportunity to do something else..."

For now, Patriots fans can rest easy knowing their first-round pick is all about the team-first mentality. Whether it's left tackle, right tackle, or beyond, Caleb Lomu is ready to make his mark—one pancake block at a time.
