Fresh off a tough season-opening loss, Caitlin Clark traded the basketball court for the concert stage Saturday night—and no, she wasn't performing.
The Indiana Fever star, who dropped 20 points, seven assists, and five rebounds in a 107-104 defeat to the Dallas Wings earlier that day, made a surprise appearance at Morgan Wallen's concert at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Wallen, known for having a local celebrity walk him out at every show on his "Still the Problem" tour, chose Clark for the honor on the second night of his two-show stop in the city.
Fans who might have worried about Clark's health after she twice left the game to visit the locker room can breathe easy. The rookie sensation was all smiles as she joined Wallen on stage, putting any injury concerns to rest. During the game, Clark had briefly headed up the tunnel at the 3:01 mark of the third quarter, but ESPN's Holly Rowe reported she was simply getting treatment on a trainer's table before returning to the bench with a wrap around her back.
"Just getting my back adjusted. Gets out of line pretty quickly," Clark explained postgame. "Other than that, I feel great."
Fever coach Stephanie White backed that up, noting, "We wouldn't have played her 30 minutes if she wasn't OK."
It's a reassuring sign for Fever fans, especially given that Clark played just 13 games last season due to soft tissue injuries. Her ability to bounce back from a hard-fought opener to enjoy a night out shows she's ready for the long season ahead—both on and off the court.
