Burnley Football Club has officially parted ways with head coach Scott Parker by mutual consent, following the team's relegation from the Premier League. The announcement comes just days after Burnley's drop to the Championship was mathematically sealed with a defeat to Manchester City.

The Clarets found themselves well adrift of safety with only a handful of matches remaining, leaving no realistic path to survival. The club acted swiftly to make a change, ending Parker's tenure less than two years after his appointment. Assistant coach Mike Jackson will take interim charge for the remainder of the season, a role he previously held during the 2021-22 campaign.

Parker's departure marks a difficult end to a season that began with such promise. He had led Burnley back to the top flight with an impressive Championship campaign, securing second place with a remarkable defensive record—conceding just 16 goals across 46 league matches. That structured, disciplined approach was the hallmark of his promotion-winning side.

However, those defensive foundations failed to translate at Premier League level. Burnley struggled throughout the campaign, conceding heavily and finding wins hard to come by. Form deteriorated significantly in the second half of the season, leaving the club with no choice but to make a change.

In a statement released by the club, Parker acknowledged the timing of the decision, noting that both parties agreed a change was necessary. He reflected positively on his time at Burnley, particularly the promotion campaign that returned them to the Premier League. Despite that success, the inability to sustain top-flight status has resulted in a third relegation for the club in recent years.

Burnley's hierarchy now faces another summer of transition as they prepare for life back in the Championship. The search for a new permanent head coach is already underway, with the club looking to reset ahead of next season. The next appointment will be crucial in determining whether the Clarets can bounce back quickly and reclaim their place among England's elite.
