The winds of change are blowing through Turf Moor as Burnley FC officially announced the departure of manager Scott Parker on Thursday, with assistant coach Michael Jackson stepping in as interim manager for the remainder of the season.
It's been a rollercoaster ride for the Clarets, who find themselves in 19th place in the Premier League standings—a far cry from the glory days of last season. The writing was on the wall after Burnley's relegation to the Championship was confirmed last week, prompting Parker and the club's board to mutually agree that a fresh start was needed.
"Following confirmation of the club's relegation from the Premier League last week, Parker and the board held discussions and mutually agreed that his time at Turf Moor would conclude," the club stated.
Let's not forget the highs, though. Parker was the mastermind behind an incredible 33-match unbeaten streak in the 2024-25 campaign, which secured Burnley's promotion back to the top flight. That kind of form had fans dreaming of Premier League stability. But the 2025-26 season told a different story, with the Clarets managing just four wins, 22 draws, and eight losses under Parker's guidance.
"It has been an immense privilege to lead this great club over the past two years," Parker said in a heartfelt statement. "I have enjoyed every moment of our journey together, but feel that now is the right time for both parties to move in a different direction."
Now, all eyes turn to Jackson as he takes the reins for the final stretch. The schedule doesn't get any easier: first up is a trip to face 15th-place Leeds United (9-12-13) on Friday at 3 p.m. EDT. After that, the Clarets will battle fifth-place Aston Villa (17-10-7), league leaders Arsenal (22-5-7), and bottom-dwellers Wolves (3-23-8), who have also already secured their relegation fate.
For Burnley fans, it's a time of transition—but with Jackson at the helm and a chance to build for next season, there's always hope on the horizon.
