Just days before UFC Winnipeg is set to hit the canvas, the already thin fight card has taken another hit. One of the more compelling preliminary bouts is off, as flyweight Mitch Raposo has been forced to withdraw from his clash with Allan Nascimento due to illness.

The news, confirmed by Raposo's coach Tyson Chartier, is a classic case of fight week misfortune. Chartier explained that despite the team's best efforts, Raposo couldn't shake the illness in time to be medically cleared. He extended thanks to the UFC staff and an apology to Nascimento's team, noting plans to rebook the fight in a couple of months.

For Allan Nascimento, this cancellation is a familiar and frustrating story. Despite riding a solid four-fight win streak in the UFC, including a recent submission victory over Cody Durden, his run has been plagued by bad luck and last-minute fight fallouts. He took to social media to express his disappointment, stating he was prepared and ready, but acknowledged that such setbacks are "part of the game."

On the other side, Mitch Raposo was looking to build momentum after securing his first UFC win, a decision over Azat Maksum, which snapped an 0-2 start to his Octagon career. This illness halts that progress for now.

There is a silver lining for fight fans, however. Reports indicate the promotion is already working to salvage this matchup, targeting a new date at UFC Vegas 119 on June 20th. While it's a bummer for the Winnipeg crowd, the flyweight clash should get its chance to deliver the action soon.
