JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 28, 2026) – The ETSU baseball team improved to 27-15 on the 2026 season with a 10-7 victory over UNC Asheville at Thomas Stadium this Tuesday. The win marked the 14th time this season that the Buccaneers have scored double-digit runs. The offensive effort was led by Jamie Palmese, Nate Conner, Tristan Curless, and Gabe Juarez, who all recorded multi-hit games. Palmese contributed a team-high three RBIs, while Conner and Juarez each drove in two runs.
The Buccaneers established control early by batting around in the first inning and scoring six runs. Palmese, Juarez, and Conner each delivered two-run hits during the surge. Although Asheville eventually narrowed the gap with a four-run eighth inning, Logan Grass entered the game with the bases loaded and halted the comeback. Grass went on to retire the Bulldogs in order during the ninth inning to earn his second save of the season.
On the mound, eight ETSU pitchers combined for the win, notably allowing no earned runs throughout the contest. Starter Jack Vest earned his second victory of the year after pitching 2.2 scoreless innings, while Andrew Cotten provided 1.2 innings of shutout relief. The Buccaneers now prepare for their final non-conference road series of the season, traveling to face UConn for a three-game series beginning Friday evening.
