And there's a pathway for both teams to do it.

When you think of blockbuster NBA trades, the Giannis Antetokounmpo–Jaylen Brown swap might not be the first that comes to mind—but it should be. And here's why it's more realistic than you might expect.

The Milwaukee Bucks are once again open to trading their superstar forward this summer, provided the right offer comes along. Antetokounmpo, a two-time NBA MVP and 10-time All-Star, has grown frustrated with the team's inability to build another championship contender around him. League insiders expect this offseason to finally mark the end of the Bucks-Giannis era.

Nearly a third of the NBA has expressed interest in acquiring the Greek Freak, who would be eligible to sign a staggering $275 million extension with a new team just six months after a trade. That kind of talent doesn't hit the market often—and when it does, the entire league takes notice.

Surprisingly—and intriguingly—the Boston Celtics are among the teams in the mix. After a shocking first-round playoff exit at the hands of the Philadelphia 76ers, the Celtics are eyeing a major shakeup. And if the Bucks want to stay competitive rather than enter a full rebuild, Boston's hypothetical offer centered around Jaylen Brown would be incredibly hard to turn down.

"Brown is the best player the Bucks could receive in an Antetokounmpo trade, but the draft compensation is relatively sparse," writes Eric Pincus. "This path represents Milwaukee's intent to compete as quickly as possible, rather than a measured retool."

According to Bleacher Report, the Celtics' proposed package—Jaylen Brown, Max Shulga, a 2026 first-round pick (27th overall), and a 2027 first-rounder—ranks as the third-most attractive offer the Bucks could get for Antetokounmpo. While Milwaukee doesn't own its own first-rounder in 2027, acquiring one from Boston would help. But let's be honest: Brown is the real prize here.

With upcoming changes to the NBA's lottery system making full rebuilds less appealing, the Bucks have every reason to pursue a deal that keeps them in the playoff picture. A Giannis-for-Brown swap isn't just a pipe dream—it's a move that could reshape the Eastern Conference and keep both teams in contention for years to come.
