New Zealander Finn Allen hit a brutal 47-ball century to lead Kolkata Knight Riders to a dominant eight-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals and boost his side's unlikely push towards the Indian Premier League play-offs. At that stage KKR were 75-2 after 10 overs but Allen, who scored 33-ball hundred in this year's T20 World Cup semi-final, hit eight of his remaining 16 balls for six. Fifty-five of KKR's remaining 72 runs came off his bat, while the right-hander also scored 83 runs in an unbroken stand of 116 with Australia Cameron Green, who finished 33 not out.

In a stunning display of raw power, New Zealand's Finn Allen smashed a breathtaking 47-ball century to power Kolkata Knight Riders to a crushing eight-wicket victory over Delhi Capitals, keeping their slim Indian Premier League playoff hopes alive.

The chase of 143 was never in doubt once Allen found his groove. After a cautious start—18 off his first 20 balls—the right-hander exploded into action, especially after being dropped on 42 by Tristan Stubbs. From 45 off 31 deliveries, Allen shifted into overdrive, plundering eight sixes from his next 16 balls to finish exactly 100 not out, sealing the win with a maximum and 5.4 overs to spare.

Allen's innings was a masterclass in acceleration, with 55 of KKR's final 72 runs coming from his bat. He found an able partner in Australia's Cameron Green, who contributed a steady 33 not out as the pair added an unbroken 116-run stand. The century also placed Allen in elite company—he became only the fourth KKR player to score an IPL ton, joining West Indian Sunil Narine, India's Venkatesh Iyer, and fellow Kiwi Brendon McCullum.

For Delhi, it was a surprisingly timid batting performance. After racing to 74-1 in the eighth over, they inexplicably stalled, managing just 11 runs between the 12th and 16th overs despite not losing a wicket. They eventually limped to 142-8, a total that never looked enough against Allen's onslaught.

The result leaves Delhi in eighth place with eight points and facing a tough road to the playoffs with only three games remaining. KKR, meanwhile, have completed a remarkable turnaround—winless in their first six matches, they have now strung together four consecutive victories. With nine points, they sit seventh, just three behind the logjam of Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Rajasthan Royals, and Gujarat Titans, who occupy third through fifth spots respectively.
