Browns could impact Notre Dame’s Jeremiyah Love draft status, but not how you think originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Reports indicate that the Cleveland Browns could be interested in moving on from the No. 6 pick. It's tough to say what the Browns might do if they move the pick, but doing so would allow them to fall back and hopefully get another asset or two.
With the Browns’ need for draft picks, they can certainly use another pick in the first round, or even an early second if they only have to fall back a few spots. Regardless, while the Browns need to hit Thursday night's draft out of the park, there's reason to believe that moving the No. 6 pick could have a bigger impact on some of the top prospects in this class, including Jeremiah Love.
“The Browns are reported to have interest in leaving pick 6 to fall back. In turn, a team may move up for a wide receiver or even Jeremiyah Love, if he does not go to the Titans or Giants (unlikely they both pass). If a team did trade up, it could force the wide receiver to go quite fast, with this pick being Carnell Tate followed by Tyson/Lemon quickly thereafter. Denzel Boston could go mid-1st round, and before we know it, everyone has a home,” Thomas Carelli wrote.
It's interesting to hear that Love is viewed as such a highly touted prospect in terms of draft position. In the past, running backs typically didn't get picked that high, but he seems good enough to warrant making that decision.
Regardless, Cleveland will have to decide whether it wants to move on from that pick and allow a team to select him, if things fall that way.
