The 2026 NFL draft was full of excitement with a ton of trades. The Cleveland Browns themselves made a couple of trade-ups and multiple trade-downs, including moves that netted them two extra fourth-round selections in the 2027 NFL draft. The first four picks of the Browns made were players who were in the top 32 of my board and considered first-round talents by a lot of analysts.
One of the best draft analysts in the business, Dane Brugler of The Athletic, agrees the team had a great draft, calling it the best in the NFL. Of course, these things still need to play out on paper, but in terms of talent, it's a great group. He listed Spencer Fano as his favorite pick while naming tight end Joe Royer as a day three pick who could have an immediate impact.
Here is what The Athletic's draft analyst had to say on the Browns' haul:
"The Browns found outstanding value with each pick while also attacking key needs. Landing Emmanuel McNeil-Warren outside the top 50 was tremendous value, and both wide receivers will have opportunities. But I’ll go back to their first pick (acquired in a trade back that also netted Cleveland an extra Day 2 pick). Fano has rare movement ability for his size, top-tier football IQ and competitive toughness, plus he can play multiple spots on the line."
