The Denver Broncos came agonizingly close to a Super Bowl trip in 2025—so close, in fact, that if not for a devastatingly unlucky injury to quarterback Bo Nix, they might have punched their ticket past the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game.
Now, all eyes are on the 2026 season and a return to playoff contention. And for the Broncos to make that happen, they'll need a healthy Bo Nix under center for every snap of the year.
Fortunately, the news out of Denver is exactly what fans have been waiting to hear. According to CBS Sports' Carter Bahns, head coach Sean Payton delivered an encouraging update on his franchise signal-caller.
"Sean Payton said there is a 'good chance' Bo Nix will be back on the field for the team's minicamp in mid-June and will be a full participant in training camp in late July," Bahns reported.
That's the kind of offseason bulletin that makes Broncos Country breathe a little easier. It's not just about Nix being ready for the regular season—that was never really in doubt. The real prize here is that he's expected back well before the summer heat kicks in.
Having Nix on the field for June minicamp—even if not at full speed—is a massive win for this team. Why? Because the Broncos invested a first-round pick and more to land wide receiver Jaylen Waddle. And building chemistry between a quarterback and his new top target is everything in today's NFL.
Getting those reps together during the offseason program gives this duo a head start on developing the timing and trust that can make or break an offense. With Nix on track to be a full-go by training camp, Denver's revamped passing game has every chance to hit the ground running in 2026.
