William Contreras singled home the tying run in the eighth inning and hit a game-ending sacrifice fly in the 10th as the Milwaukee Brewers rallied past the New York Yankees 4-3 on Saturday. The Yankees wasted a brilliant performance from Cam Schlittler and have lost back-to-back games for the first time since they dropped five in a row from April 8-12. On Friday, they got just three hits against Milwaukee’s Jacob Misiorowski and Shane Drohan in a 6-0 defeat.

William Contreras delivered a clutch performance on Saturday, driving in the tying run in the eighth inning and sealing the game with a walk-off sacrifice fly in the 10th, as the Milwaukee Brewers stormed back to defeat the New York Yankees 4-3. The win marked a dramatic turnaround for the Brewers, who capitalized on key moments to hand the Yankees their second straight loss—a slump not seen since their five-game skid from April 8-12.

The Yankees entered the game riding high on a brilliant outing from right-hander Cam Schlittler, who allowed just two hits over six scoreless innings despite taking a 108.5 mph line drive off the bat of Contreras to his leg in the first. Schlittler's dominant performance lowered his major league-leading ERA to 1.35, but it wasn't enough to save his team. New York's offense, which managed only three hits in a 6-0 shutout loss on Friday, struggled again to provide support.

Paul Goldschmidt got the Yankees on the board early with a leadoff home run and finished with two RBIs, while Jake Bauers answered for Milwaukee with a 420-foot blast to right-center in the seventh inning. The Brewers chipped away at the lead, with Brice Turang singling, stealing second, and scoring on Contreras' single in the eighth to tie the game at 2-2.

In the 10th inning, the Yankees struck first when Ryan McMahon's two-out RBI single off Aaron Ashby (7-0) put New York ahead 3-2. But Milwaukee responded immediately. Jackson Chourio's infield single tied the game and set the stage for more drama. After a comebacker from Turang, reliever Tim Hill's errant throw to third hit Luis Rengifo in the hand, loading the bases. Contreras then stepped up and lofted a fly ball to right field, easily bringing home Rengifo for the walk-off win.

The loss overshadowed a difficult week for the Yankees, who also placed right-hander Luis Gil on the injured list at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre with shoulder inflammation. The 2024 AL Rookie of the Year is expected to miss at least three weeks. Meanwhile, Carlos Rodón is set to make his season debut for New York on Sunday, seven months after undergoing elbow surgery. He'll face Brewers right-hander Logan Henderson (0-1, 4.50 ERA) as Milwaukee looks to complete the series sweep.
