Brentford 3-0 West Ham: What Nuno said

Brentford is a very good team but the way we react and play the first half, hitting the post, having a goal disallowed for a tight margin, it gives us hope at half-time. West Ham have failed to score in three consecutive Premier League away games for the first time since April 2019 under Manuel Pellegrini (3).

After a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Brentford, West Ham manager Nuno Espirito Santo didn't hold back in his assessment of his team's performance. "I stand here honest," Nuno told BBC's Match of the Day, reflecting on a match that started with promise but quickly unraveled.

The first half offered glimpses of hope for the Hammers. They struck the post and had a goal disallowed by the tightest of margins, leaving the visitors with belief heading into the break. "Brentford is a very good team, but the way we reacted and played in the first half gave us hope at half-time," Nuno explained.

However, that hope evaporated when Brentford converted a penalty early in the second half. "It hurt us," Nuno admitted. "It goes against what we wanted in the half-time talk. It's unfortunate we conceded from a penalty—it could have been avoided." From there, the floodgates opened, and West Ham found themselves in all-too-familiar territory, chasing the game against a relentless Bees side.

This loss extends a worrying trend for the Hammers on the road. For the first time since April 2019 under Manuel Pellegrini, West Ham have failed to score in three consecutive Premier League away games. That's a drought that will concern fans and management alike, especially with the season entering its crucial final stretch.

On a more positive note, Nuno has shown consistency in his team selection, naming the same starting XI for four straight league matches—the first time the club has done so since September/October 2023. But that consistency hasn't translated into results on the road.

With three games remaining in the season, Nuno is calling for unity. "It's up to us how we react from a tough loss," he said. "It's up to us how we react from the situation and noise. Let's stick together. It will go down to the wire—the last game. We have to stick together."

For West Ham fans, the message is clear: the season isn't over yet, but the team needs to find their scoring touch—and fast—if they want to finish strong.
