Carlo Ancelotti will remain the coach of Brazil until 2030, the country's football federation (CBF) said on Thursday in a vote of confidence as the storied football nation aims to turn around its World Cup woes. The contract renewal will put the 66-year-old Italian at the helm of the team "until the 2030 World Cup," the CBF said in a statement.

Brazil's national football team has secured its future with a major vote of confidence, extending head coach Carlo Ancelotti's contract through the 2030 World Cup. The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced the renewal on Thursday, signaling a long-term commitment to the 66-year-old Italian tactician as the storied five-time world champions aim to reclaim their glory on the global stage.

Ancelotti, who took the reins last year, has already guided Brazil through a successful qualification campaign for the upcoming World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico—set to run from June 11 to July 19. The contract extension keeps him at the helm of the Selecao "until the 2030 World Cup," the CBF confirmed in a statement.

"From the very first minute, I understood what football means to this country," Ancelotti said. "For the past year, we have been working to lead the Brazilian national team back to the very top of the world stage. I want more victories, more time, more work."

The move comes as Brazil looks to shake off recent World Cup disappointments. The Selecao were eliminated in the quarter-finals in both 2018 and 2022, and their last semi-final appearance came in 2014—when the host nation suffered a devastating 7-1 loss to Germany, a result that remains a national trauma for football fans. Since the departure of Tite after the 2022 tournament, Brazil had cycled through three different head coaches before turning to Ancelotti.

Ancelotti's appointment was a historic one: he is the first foreign manager to lead the Selecao since Argentine Filpo Nunez's brief tenure in 1965. With a resume that includes Champions League triumphs with Real Madrid and AC Milan, as well as league titles across Europe, the Italian brings a wealth of experience to a team hungry for redemption.

"Ancelotti's resume and career speak for themselves," said CBF vice-president Gustavo Dias. "But beyond that, he is a fantastic human being. We are extremely satisfied." CBF president Samir Xaud added that the renewal is part of ongoing efforts to "keep Brazil at the highest level of world football."

Since taking charge, Ancelotti has overseen ten matches, recording five wins, two draws, and three defeats—including a 2-1 loss to France in March. With the World Cup on the horizon, he is set to announce his final squad on May 18, followed by a warm-up match against Panama at the Maracana. For Brazilian fans and football enthusiasts worldwide, the message is clear: the Selecao are building for the long haul, with a proven winner at the wheel.
